Krassimir Terziev (b. 1969, Dobrich) is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher whose work spans a diversity of media, questioning the boundaries between reality and fiction, while exploring the manifold transitions and tensions between a globalized world, dominated by multiplicity of symbolic imagery, and its material groundings in technological, physical and human ‘hardware’.
He holds a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology from Sofia University (2012) and graduated from the National Academy of Arts, Sofia (1997). His work was shown internationally at: “25 years and 5 themes later. ICA – Sofia Retrospective”, National Gallery/ The Palace, Sofia, 2020; “From Matter to Data: Ecology of Infrastructures”, ’post', the MoMa online platform, 2020, curated by Inga Lāce and Lukas Brasiskis; “Keeping the Balance. Works from the Art Collection Telekom”, Ludwig Museum Budapest, 2020, curated by Nathalie Hoyos and Rainald Schumacher; “Open Art Files: Notes and footnotes”, Kapana Gallery, Plovdiv; Open Arts Foundation, Plovdiv European Capital of Culture 2019, curated by Vera Mlechevska. His recent solo exhibitions include: “New World Order”, Structura Gallery, Sofia, 2020, curated by Maria Vassileva; “Future Unforgettable”, Versus Art Project, Istanbul, 2019, curated by Firat Arapoglu; “Between the Future That has Already Been and the Past That is About to Happen”, the National Gallery, Sofia,2015, curated by Iara Boubnova. He received the Unlimited Award for Contemporary Bulgarian Art (2011), and the Gaudenz Ruf Award for New Bulgarian Art (2007). Terziev’s works are part of the public collections of Centre Pompidou/MNAM, Paris; Arteast 2000+ Collection, Moderna Galerija Ljubljana; Art Collection Telecom, Bonn, Sofia City Art Gallery, Sofia; among others.

The Herbarium project explores the work environment in contemporary culture in which ideas are created and exchanged. The focus of Herbarium is to compile a collection of sealed creative energy in boxes (40х40х10, 40x20x10 or 20х40х10) of different generations of artists around the world. The contents of each box are accompanied by a description and a sound file with the artist's voice. The artists, invited by the curator of "Herbarium" could choose two new participants - so the project traces the exchange of creative energy in the artworld. The development of the collection has no time limits, it grows exponentially with each new participant until the final exhibition is announced. The H Talks series (video portraits of the artists) are shot during the preparation of each presentation of the Herbarium collection in the artists work environment and studios. All the information, gathered in the process of developing the collection, will be available to all researchers, curators, gallery owners, students or art lovers who are interested in the less visible mechanisms through which contemporary culture functions.
