Martin Penev (1985) is a contemporary Bulgarian artist who lives and works in Sofia. In 2009 he received a Master's degree in Theology from Sofia University "St. In 2012 he graduated from the National Academy of Arts with a Master's degree in Digital Arts. His artistic practice combines sculpture, installation, video and performance, often exploring the boundaries of corporeality, identity and absurdity. His works are distinguished by hybridity, irony and expressive sensibility. Through unconventional materials and forms, Penev creates visual and spatial paradoxes in which the vulnerability of human existence is brought into focus. Martin Penev has participated in numerous exhibitions, festivals and artist residencies in Bulgaria and abroad, and his works are part of significant private and public collections.
